Introduction
Beaverbrooks is an award winning family-owned jewellers established in 1919 with 71 stores across the UK. Unafraid of embracing new channels they have pioneered online retailing, merchandising and sales in the watch & jewellery sector.
A new digital design language and ecommerce website was needed. The first and main priority was to redesign their complex custom checkout. Using this design language, next up was to design key components and pages across the site to improve performance and conversion rate.
Checkout UX
Working closely with the team at Beaverbrooks, the first steps were to understand all the new requirements and functionality. With over 65% of sales coming from shoppers using mobile devices, creating optimal user flows, wireframes and prototypes on mobile was key.
Design
Having established successful key user flows and tested these on real end users, the next steps were to design for both mobile and desktop. The two optimal devices for purchasing online with Beaverbrooks. A clear and consistent UI was needed without swaying too heavily away from current brand guidelines.
Key pages
The next steps were to roll out the design system across key pages. Including listers and PDPs. User flows, wireframes and prototypes were completed to test the fiddly stuff such as filters and information hierarchy before design.
